Whenever a natural disaster takes place there is of course destruction and the outcome results in many people who becomes the victim of that disaster and those people who are lucky survives through it. But how can you search for your missing beloved ones whether they have survived or not in the earthquake in Japan ? Well, for that Google has brought in an appreciable useful service through which you can search for people who have survived or have become victims of the earthquake.

This tool by Google is offered both in English and Japanese. There are mainly two options which you can click on from which one is for “finding the survivor/victim” and the second one is for “reporting Google about the information which you have for the survivor/victim of earthquake to maintain their records”. You can click from the following options subject to your query:

  • Finding the missing person: If you want to search for someone you can click on àI’m looking for someoneß then you will be asked to enter the part or full name of the person which you are looking for. If the result exists comparing your entered name, then you will be given a list of matching names with details about there resident and whether they are alive or not.
  • Reporting Google: If you want to report Google for maintaining there database records of survivors and victims of earthquake you can click on àI have information about someoneß then you will be asked to enter the person’s given and family names to create an entry. Note: Be careful while giving any information because Google will not review or verify the accuracy of the info given by you and directly it will go public to be viewed by everyone.

This service launched by Google is quite convenient which takes into account the data from other registries by means of a common format known as PFIF rather than making it difficult to keep a track record. The first Google Person Finder was built by Google engineers after the earthquake in “Haiti” during January 2010.

Besides, the system is much more efficient because it consists of an API which allows press agencies, non-governmental bureaus and so others make a part in the database and obtain updates. Webmasters who wish to place this system “Google Person Finder” on their websites can also embed it as a gadget. This will further expand the network and will help out people who are in the search of their beloved ones residing in Japan.
