Adobe adds support for iOS 5 Newsstand to Digital Publishing Suite

Adobe announced its support for the Apple’s latest Newsstand application, which is assembled into the upcoming iOS 5, to its Digital Publishing Suite just after the iPhone maker releases the updates of the operating system. The software maker, San Jose, Calif, hypes above 600 titles produced with its Digital Publishing Suite. The Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 works in union with suite to generate digital publications for the iPad, research in Motion’s PlayBook and Google Android tablets.
Todd Teresi, Vice president and General Manager of Adobe Media Solutions said “Digital Publishing Suite support for Newsstand will provide Adobe’s publishing clients the ability to bring appealing content directly to the digital doorstep of subscribers on their iPads.”
“Adobe technology is essential to the alteration taking place in terms of publishing and now readers will be able to access to their magazine and newspapers very easily in one location and get to the recent issue as soon as it is published, speeding up magazine adoption on tablet devices.”
The company has claimed Newsstand subscription to enhance its sales and advertising revenue by merging greater content discoverability and easy payment options that are required by the readers.
Newsstand can detect and download the files created by Adobe’s suite automatically, while apps assembled with the software can add push notifications and icon covers.
Newsstand was announced in June by Apple as a unique feature of iOS 5. The app will work as a folder that manage and gather magazine and app subscription content with a bookshelf interface much alike to the iBooks. All the latest issues will be arranged in the Newsstand folder in the background. To enable the users to search and buy newest subscription, a browse function is also embraced in the App.
The rumors became apparent last year as the Apple works hard to encourage publishers to the iPad. Initially Apple’s business model was being resisted by the publishers, which does not provide subscriber’s personal information, but then many of them have come up for it offering in-app subscriptions on the iPad.
