Eyes-on: Compal Trinity ODM reference design
We got our eyes-on Compal’s latest piece of equipment that is Trinity APU that is an ODM reference unit from the company. Helping as a proof-of-concept what you are observing is one of the several units AMD that is currently shopping to OEMs in line to demonstrate its APUs power-sipping frugality and outright performance. This specific design facilitates a lower voltage variant of the APU enabling it to fit in a tiny 18mm shell. However the build quality doesn’t satisfy us as much as we were expecting from it. It was prone to a lot of bend when we handled it, more specifically more than the existing flexing champion, Toshiba’s Z830.
It is roughly scheduled to be available for $500 or may be for $600 you just have to decide exactly how much you value torsional rigidity. Despite of this, the viewing angles at the demo loop were pretty nice and fortunately it didn’t disappointed us at the note of connectivity as it is integrated with two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI flanking its left side and mini-Display port. Moreover it has audio jacks, and another USB and Ethernet on along its right.
Other chief specs will be available later in the year till then enjoy its exclusive first look that we are providing.
