Torrent search engine BTJunkie shuts down voluntarily

BTjunkie is Torrent search engine which stands as latest file-sharing service that fall on its sword in arousal of the Megaupload sting. Junkie which is one the largest Bit Torrent indexes voluntarily decided to shut down.

A statement placed on the website interpret, “This is the end of the line my friends. The decision does not come easy, but we’ve decided to voluntarily shut down. We’ve been fighting for years for your right to communicate, but it’s time to move on. It’s been an experience of a lifetime, we wish you all the best!”

An unnamed BTJunnkie founder put in the picture that the site was never targeted directly by the copyright holders however the site was accounted to the US Trade Representative (USTR) in 2011. The torrent index was declared as a ‘rogue site’ by the RISS and the MPAA and the search term was censored by Google.

Moreover the site’s founder interpret that the legal action against the file-sharing sites Pirate Bay and Megaupload had a big role pat in closure of the site.

Megaupload, the online storage locker was held and shut down by the US Department of justice in January 2012 for purportedly violating encroachment law. One of the site member was arrested and Kim Dotcom, the founder was recently been deprived of bail.

The founders of The Pirate Bay were under arrest for copyright infringement in 2009. Later on, this month, the supreme court of Sweden finally completed the ruling, and declared that the founders will not be able to plea their months-long prison sentences or combined fines of 46 million kronor which is around $6.83 million.

In reaction to Megaupload’s shutdown, a raft of famous Web lockers has neuter the ability of sharing files with others like FileSonic, FileServe and Uploaded. to all cut off file-sharing in the days subsequent to when Megaupload was seized.

However the Pirate Bay shifted its domain name from .org to Swedish one .se. this was done to prevent US authorities from seizing the popular domain as according to an insider of Pirate Bay.
