As everyone is writing, and saying about the upcoming Windows Operating System ‘Windows 8’ and also its native Metro-based Start Screen, so almost everybody now knows that the Windows 8 ships with a brand new Metro style Start Screen. The Start Screen is the centralized place containing shortcut for applications incorporated with live tiles displaying updates on weather, stock and twitter.

This metro-style Start Screen enables you pin even folder for a quick access. Searching for an application or file is pretty easy as you can start typing on the Start Screen to get your desiring results.

All this together makes Start Screen a tremendous feature but still some people are unhappy with it. Many of the folks using Windows desktop are looking forward to disable the Start Screen and want to enable the good old Start menu. There is no option of disabling this feature on the Control Panel. If you think that the Start Screen is of no use for desktop computers then you can easily disable it y editing system files.

But somehow most of the people don’t find themselves comfortable with editing system files, so for those we have a guide that will help you out disable Windows 8 Start Screen with the help of a third party tool.

Method:

1st Step:  Download Metro UI Tweaker. It’s a free efficacy to customize Windows 8 Start screen by enabling and disabling one or more features. Extract the downloaded Metro UI Tweaker zip file to get a folder named MUITW8. Open the folder to find Metro UI Tweaker.exe file.

2nd Step: Run the application with admin rights. To do this, right-click on Metro UI Tweaker.exe file and then select Run as administrator. Click Yes for the UAC prompt.

3rd Step: Once the Tweaker is launched, select Disable Metro Start Menu radio button > click Apply button. You will be asked to reboot the machine to apply the change. Click Yes for “Some settings that you applied may require to restart Windows , Would you like to restart now?” message to reboot the machine.

4th Step: Simply you are done with it!
